Case Studies:
A Few Examples of the TCI Difference

1.) Client: NATO - Current Challenges in Modern Science Program
Challenge: To develop a model for sustainable management of coastal Lagoon Ecosystems that could be applied locally and globally.
Solution: TCI president was asked to join a team of international scientists for NATO'S CCMS program. TCI not only provided ecological and communication expertise, it identified the need to integrate the ecological model into the economic and cultural stature of the lagoon and its watershed. TCI developed a plan and process to include decision-making and stakeholder input to allow for long term sustainable management. TCI outlined a plan and process to guide each locality to develop and integrate the Ecosystem Model for Sustainable Management into community socioeconomic system.
Results: The TCI difference took a technical, scientific model, added the human dimension by evaluating the relevant socioeconomic factors and structure, and designed the most useful product and process to allow the model to be customized locally, but applied globally.

2.) Client: VA Department of Game and Inland Fisheries
Challenge: The agency charged with managing Virginia's Wildlife resource was managing for less than 5% of the wildlife resource - the harvested species.
Solution: TCI staff accomplished this by developing an effective plan and process which involved and activated a statewide network of stakeholders and experts to broaden the program and enhance its scientific and educational aspects. This buy-in boosted program integrity and image, broadened agency support and funding for a more comprehensive program.
Result: The TCI difference developed an effective wildlife diversity program that now includes a holistic approach to wildlife resource conservation.
